The last one left..

and it's mine. Yummy!

These little morsels are rather delicious. The recipe can be found here. I used about 1/2 cup (who's measuring) of  ground hazelnuts in mine instead of the chopped nuts. Today I am going to make some more using macadamia nuts.

In between my short spurts of baking I've been steadily working away on the Shaelyn shawl. I've finished it according to the pattern but I am making it bigger to achieve a good wrap around size shawl. I haven't decided how many lace sections I will knit yet but I think blocking will make a big difference to the size so I'll assess that as I go.

Back to the kitchen!

Lynda

What is love?

Recently I read a quote from a book that took my breath away. It is just so true and exemplifies the kind of love that I want, the kind of love that I think I have found with my soulmate. The quote alone made me buy the book that I am reading at the moment. I had to know the character that spoke these beautiful words.

The quote is taken from Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Louis De Bernieres. I'll reserve my judgement on the book until I have finished it but some of the writing is quite lovely and I've had a giggle or two while reading this book late at night.

Happy Anniversary Erin and JJ.

Some love lasts a lifetime, true love lasts forever!

Cheers,
Lynda

Stuck in my head

  • This happy little face

Blake

  • How much pollen can a bee carry on its legs

  • Music is so powerful.  This haunting song and the amazing video clip has been in my head for weeks.

  • Is it flowers that make a garden beautiful or is it the garden that enhances the beauty of flowers?

  • Trees are harder than cars. The tree is still standing but the car is a write off.

  • Kids have a lot of life lessons to learn

  • A quote I love (and use often)

Lynda

Pure Lusciousness

Two skeins of this lovely yarn is going to be the Shaelyn Shawl by Leila Raabe.

It's soft and squishy, smells divine and is a delight to knit with as it glides along the needles and doesn't split and to make it perfect it's my favourite colour.

This project is going to be fun!

Cladonia by Kirsten Kapur

I finally got through the long and time consuming picot bind off on the Cladonia and I can cross one more project off the to finish list. The bind off took a long time to finish compared to a standard bind off but it suits the shawl and gives a lovely soft and feminine look to the shawl edge. The body of the shawl was a breeze to make. I had a couple of issues with the lace section but they were due to little fingers and knitting not mixing and my fickle decisions on the colour for the lace and edging.

Spring is in the air!

In the end I chose grey for the lace and I think it looks great. I seem to be loving black and grey lately.

Heart Garland

With some time on my hands last weekend I decided to make a sweet heart garland. The pattern is Molly's Crocheted Heart Garland by Molly Dunham. It is a very satisfying pattern to make and it's also quick and easy. I used Perle 5 by DMC to make the red hearts.

I've made it long enough to drape at the top of the curtain in the bedroom and in red to match my very cute Ladybird heat pack that sits on the bed. It adds a lovely hint of colour in the otherwise white and grey room.

Have yourself a heartwarming day.

Cheers,
Lynda
