Making the most of a trip to the City

Today we had an appointment at the Children's Hospital in Melbourne so it was a great opportunity to do some shopping in the city and take a look at the Myer Christmas Windows. This is the 55th year that Myer has created these beautifully displayed Christmas windows and every year there is a new theme to delight young and old. This year it is the story of The Nutcracker. Apparently there is 14 kilograms of glitter imported from Germany that make the windows so bright and sparkly. Kaylee was very impressed with the flying fairies, dancing people, tumbling acrobats, spinning tea cups and all the other things that move. Santa reads the story of The Nutcracker as you progress along the windows so you can bet we are going to have to read that story many more times before Christmas.

A trip to the city isn't complete without a visit to the yarn store and this visit was particularly lovely. Who doesn't love free yarn! I guess we do pay for it somewhere along the way but I got the large Noro Kureyon Sock yarn, 2 balls of Morris Woollahra and a skein of Noro Iro free today with the loyalty club gift voucher. Wooohoooo!

A loop around the city on the free tram ended the day on a happy note especially for Kaylee who loves to go on the tram. Anyone picking up the trend that I like 'free'!

Then it was the long drive home again which gave Kaylee a chance to catch up on some sleep.

Cheers,
Lynda

  1. Good grief - Kaylee is almost as tall as Shan! And that long blond hair!

  2. Oh, pretty windows. I would love to have seen that. Who doesn't love free? Free is like a bobbing red balloon!
