Adriana 1919 - 2012

Adriana was a beautiful lady who inspired everyone she met in some way or other.  She was born into eternal life today at the age of 92 years. She lived a wonderful, full life to the very end.  She was a dear and much loved friend for all of my adult life. We shared a love of sewing, knitting and crafting and as she became more home bound we spent many days chatting and knitting together. She was from the old school and everything was either right or wrong. There were no grey areas with Adriana. One of the things I loved about her was that she always stood up for what she believed in. She never sat in silence. She had opinions on everything and we all knew what they were. We laughed together in the good times and we cried together in the sad times and I will miss her dearly, more than anyone will know.

Death is Nothing at All

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

  2. This poem is lovely. I feel a little as if I have met her, and that makes me smile.
