Autumn

It was a cold and dreary start to Autumn. Not exactly unpleasant because I love Autumn with its crisp, foggy mornings and the midday sun warm and bright in the sky but a sure sign that the hot days of Summer are coming to a close. During Autumn the chill in the mornings and evenings shout that Winter is on its way. We have such distinct seasons here in Melbourne and there is something to like about each of them. For Autumn it's the glorious colours and soon the hills will be alight with fiery colours of yellows, reds, browns and purples.

Today I picked up a small handful of acorns that were lying under a massive oak tree and immediately thought of the saying -
"Mighty oaks from little acorns grow"
and the quote meaning the same thing that I think is just darling from Geoffrey Chaucer's Troilus and Criseyde, 1374
"an ook cometh of a litel spyr".

I put the nail polish to use on a few of these acorns and they look so colourful and cheery. Bright enough to rival a Springtime daffodil!

Time to bring out the hand knits again! If you're happy and you know it clap your hands, clap clap!!

Cheers,
Lynda
